When the Saints go marching

Rumors of Saints Row 4's release date, and confirmation that it will be in 2013

Since THQ's bankruptcy, many of their assets have found themselves in new hands, the Saints Row franchise being one of them, and according to new owners Koch Media's CEO, Klemens Kundratitz, there's "no doubt" that the next Saints Row game will be released in 2013.

Deep Silver, a company owned by Koch Media, has attained the rights to the series, and according to the original games design director Chris Stockman, we could be seeing the next entry as early as August.
IGN approached deep Silver on the topic, who stated that they are still working on the timing of the release with franchise developer Volition and that they haven't announced platforms for the game yet.

The previous entry in the series Saints Row: The Third released several succesful expansions during its time, the final announced expansion Saints Row: Enter the Dominatrix was revealed to be an April Fools prank in April of last year. In June 2012 however, THQ president Jason Rubin announced that the prank expansion had been cancelled, and instead absorbed into the planned Saints Row 4, allowing the team more time and greater resources to work on the project.

If the game does get released as early as August, it will not be appearing on the next-gen consoles as was previously assumed, that should be announced later in the year. Interestingly though, the August release date would put the game a full month ahead of its rival, Grand Theft Auto V, a notion that Koch Media and Deep Silver support.
