Despicable Minions in 2014

Universal Pictures announce an unnamed Despicable Me spin-off movie, that will focus on the movies popular "Minions"

Universal Pictures has announced a December 19th release date for an as yet un-named "Minions" spin-off movie. The widely popular (and unfathomably annoying) characters were first introduced to us in the 2010 animated feature Despicable Me where they served the evil genius Gru (voiced by Steve Carell).

In the spin-off movie, we learn that the minions have existed throughout history, serving the most 'despicable' master they can find. Before they find their current master Gru, they work for Scarlet Overkill, a stylish and bad ass super villain that's bent on world domination. Sandra Bullock has signed on to voice the evil Scarlet Overkill, but no other cast details have been revealed as of yet.

On a related note, Javier Bardem (Skyfall) has reportedly left the cast of Despicable Me 2. Javier was set to play an evil genius with sons (much like Gru and his new daughters) called El Macho. The movie is still on track for a 2013 release, hitting Australian theatres in June 2013.
