Director Rich Moore discusses plans for bigger cameos in Wreck-It Ralph 2
At Disney's 2012 Comic-Con panel, Rich Moore joked about the Mario Brothers being involved with the production, but they did not appear in the first Wreck-It Ralph movie. It is important to note however, that this is not because Nintendo refused the rights, it was more that they didn't have the right place for them within the story, and talks are happening to have this happen for the sequel
"We'll really come up with something good for Mario to do (in the next film)" said Moore, "To be able to present him in the sequel would be great."

In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, Moore touched on another legendary gaming character he had hoped to include in the first movie, Tron.
"I can't specifically remember why that didn't happen. Of course, with a sequel, I'm hoping that we can find a way to see Tron himself in that movie.
On October 2012 during interviews for the first entry, director Rich Moore revealed that they already had big plans for the second instalment, exploring on line gaming and console gaming, as well as featuring more up-to date characters in the film.
Wreck-It Ralph passed 2010's Tangled to become Disney's animation studios best premiere, and the film has cleaned up the awards so far and is nominated for even more. Grossing a huge $376,623,816 worldwide (as of 03/02/13) with a DVD and Blu-Ray release soon to come, its no wonder that the sequel is so talked about.
The first movie broke new grounds, bringing popular franchised characters such as Sonic, Bowser and even Q*Bert and plenty more gaming references to mainstream audiences around the world. It will be very interesting to see what the sequel can bring to the table, and what it will do for gaming as an industry.
