NBC picks up HANNIBAL TV series and orders full season, but no pilot
In either a move of desperation, or one of confidence, American television studio NBC, has picked up Bryan Fullers spin-off series Hannibal for a full season, bypassing the pilot episode and charging ahead just off the strength of Fullers script.
NBC had began developing the series back in 2011, bringing in Bryan Fuller to write the pilot script. They ended up giving the series full financial commitment before Fuller had even completed the script, and has now ordered a full series of 13 episodes off of the finished product, the series beginning production shortly after.
The series has some stars under its belt to, so far casting Gillian Anderson (X-Files) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) in recurring roles, as well as Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royal) as a young Hannibal Lecter.
Fuller is writing the show as a more modern interpretation of the story, where FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (Played by Hugh Dancy) seeks the help of the brilliant Dr Lecter in order to track down a series of serial killers.
Through twitter, Fuller revealed the air date of the premiere on the 14th of February:
"#Hannibal Requests the Honor of your Presence for Dinner Thursday April 4 10PM @NBC"
