X-Men: Days of Future Past set for 2014 release date

In recent interviews with legendary actor Hugh Jackman, he has teased at the massive size of the next X-Men instalment.

"Every other actor who's ever put on a superhero uniform will be in it." Jackman said to the Daily Mail, "There's an element of time travel and, naturally, it will be action-packed."

So far confirmed along with Jackman are Ian Mckellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, but more names are expected, and even rumoured, to be added to the cast in future updates.

The film is scheduled for a release date of the 18th of July 2014, and will be heavily influenced by two stories from the comics, "Days of Future Past" (1981) and "All New X-Men" (2012), both comics featuring time travelling mutants hoping to change the future.

Matthew Vaughn, the director of X-Men: First Class was meant to be returning to direct, originally planning on shooting a direct sequel to First Class being set in the 1970's, ideas early on involved Mutant encounters during the Vietnam war. But since Matthew Vaughn has declined the role of director, Bryan Singer who produced First Class has signed on to direct. The new script involves characters form the prequel and from the first three movies and will involve mutant time travelling that could shape and alter the world as they know it. Rumours are abound, that this move will allow them to rework the ending of X-Men: The Last Stand, opening the possibility of future sequels in the series.
